At the request of certain Insolvency practitioners in need of help, Barry Agnew and John Thresher formed a partnership, Thresher and Agnew, early in the 1980’s to provide quantity surveying services to insolvency practitioners who required assistance with the finalising of accounts and collection of debts owing to insolvent construction and construction related firms.

Business expanded rapidly over the following years, and particularly through the period covering the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, the time of the last recession the UK suffered.

As business expanded the partnership was converted into Tower Associates Ltd, John Thresher took early retirement due to ill health, but Barry Agnew remains as Managing Director

The Company has always operated from only one office, originally in Leighton Buzzard, and latterly from near Milton Keynes, from where we are well placed to deal with enquiries from a wide geographical area.

Working as Quantity Surveyors in the world of insolvency is a very specialised field requiring not only expertise in quantity surveying, but also a good understanding of insolvency law, and how that impacts on the recovery of debt. As the insolvency industry has become more regulated, and more controlled by statute over the years, Tower Associates has adapted and continues to provide the expertise needed by insolvency practitioners when dealing with construction companies.

That process continues to this day, whilst the fundamentals have not changed in 25 years, the potential problems facing IP’s attempting to recover debt have increased significantly.

Tower Associates works in partnership with IP’s to maximize recoveries offering the access to years of experience, but with the benefit of modern technology that was not available 25 years ago, and a young support team.

As the economy in general and the construction industry in particular, faces a difficult and uncertain future over the next couple of years, we remain available to assist insolvency practitioners.
